Email address – when you request a free trial or make a purchase

Non-Personal Information

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-first analytics service that does not use cookies or track individual users. It collects only anonymized, aggregate information like page visits and browser type.

Local App Behavior

All scanning and analysis performed by Barrel — such as detecting installed applications, homebrew packages, dotfiles, or version managers — is done entirely on your device. No scan results, file lists, or system metadata are ever uploaded or sent to our servers. The only external request is a single call to the public Homebrew API to fetch metadata about Homebrew itself, which does not include any information about your system.

License Validation

Barrel makes secure, periodic requests to Lemon Squeezy's license API to verify your software license. These requests include your license key and the hostname of your device to help prevent unauthorized use. No personal files, system contents, or identifiable app data are transmitted during this process.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Deliver and manage your software license
Send confirmation or support emails
Improve our website and app based on aggregate usage trends
Respond to inquiries and support requests

We do not send marketing emails unless you opt in, and we never sell your data.
